Small plane crashes in Palm Beach County

Several injured after small plane crashes in Palm Beach County

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — A small plane crashed down into a residential area of Palm Beach County on Monday.

It happened just before 4:30 p.m. in the area of High Ridge Road and Lake Osborne Drive in Lake Worth Beach.

According to authorities, the plane hit a tree and then grazed a moving vehicle before coming to a rest a short distance away.

“The sheriff’s going down through here with lights and sirens. We don’t have that very often in our community,” said resident June Bingham.

The pilot and a passenger were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries at St. Mary’s Medical Center, according to deputies.

“One had a cut on his head, the other person was sitting there just fine and they were being loaded into the ambulance and taken away,” Bingham said of the people who were on the plane.

Five people were inside the vehicle that was struck, one adult and four children, and they were all taken to an area hospital as a precaution, authorities said.

The crash is being investigated by the FAA and the NTSB.
