MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A school in Chile has identified one of its former students as the second victim killed in Monday’s boat crash in Biscayne Bay involving members of a youth sailing camp.
Colegio San Pedro Nolasco, based in the Chilean capital of Santiago, announced in a Spanish-language Instagram post on Wednesday that Erin Victoria Ko Han, 13, was killed in Monday’s crash between a sailboat from the Miami Yacht Club’s youth camp and a barge off Miami Beach’s Hibiscus Island.
6 p.m. report:
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to Local 10 News on Wednesday that Ko and Mila Yankelevich, a 7-year-old girl from a prominent Argentine show business family, were killed in the collision.
Colegio San Pedro Nolasco described Ko as a “well-rounded student who was both empathetic and a good companion.”
The school said she was a student from 2016 until 2024, when she moved to the United States with her family.
“She excelled academically, especially in the area of mathematics, and was actively involved as a member of the school’s volleyball team and aerial trapeze and fabrics teams,” the post reads. “Her charisma and personality allowed her to socialize with students from other grades either through other extracurricular activities, or due to her family’s ties.”
Two other girls were in critical condition as of Tuesday. One of them has been identified as Ari Buchman, 10.

Prayer group chats have formed for Buchman and are asking for a Refuah sheleima, a Jewish healing prayer. Messages on the chat urge for help from a higher power.
The other badly injured girl is 8 years old.
The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the crash. Officials said Tuesday that they believed all five children aboard the sailboat with a 19-year-old counselor were wearing life jackets.
