Police: Dog walker finds person dead in canal in Miramar

MIRAMAR, Fla. — A dog walker who was on a path along a canal found someone dead in a canal on Monday morning in Miramar, police said.

Miramar police officers responded to a canal that is connected to a lake in a residential community west of University Drive and between Pembroke Road and Miramar Boulevard.

Shortly after 8:05 a.m., police officers focused on an area of Bernard Park, behind two-story buildings, near North Sherman Circle and Bernard Boulevard.

Once the body was out of the water, police officers used a yellow tarp, and a crime scene tech placed a barrier before lifting it to take pictures of the body.

The investigation was near the Heron Pointe rental community, the Lakeview townhomes, and the Legacy Lakevista Apartments.

Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 to remain anonymous.
