According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene near Southwest 136th Avenue and 288th Street after receiving reports about a car fire, only to later discover that a body was inside the vehicle.

Deputies said they responded to the area just past the Homestead city limits around 7:30 p.m. and found a car fully engulfed in flames.

Local 10 was told multiple deputies tried to extinguish the fire, but did not have any luck.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue was then called to the scene, and firefighters were able to put out the flames.

It was only when that fire was out, however, that first responders discovered there was a body inside the burnt wreckage.

Video shows the car wrapped in a tarp while on the back of a tow truck.

At this point, it is not clear whether the person who died was a man or a woman, and we still don’t know what led up to the fire, whether it may have been intentionally set, or whether the person inside died as a result of the fire or perhaps something else.

The MDSO Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation.
