POMPANO BEACH, Fla. — A suspect has been arrested after a man was stabbed during a robbery attempt at a Pompano Beach apartment complex early Wednesday morning, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly before 6 a.m., deputies said they responded to a reported robbery near the intersection of Northwest Third Avenue and Northwest 12th Street.
Upon arrival, the victim told deputies that an individual had “unlawfully entered his apartment and robbed him” before eventually stabbing him, according to investigators.
The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His identity, age or condition have not been disclosed at this time.
Following a coordinated search effort, deputies — with help from a K-9 unit — located and arrested the suspect, identified as Ron Christopher Gonzales, 33, a short time later.

Neighbors told Local 10 News the victim is someone they watched grow up in the community.
“He didn’t bother anybody,” one resident said.
“I heard sirens and I looked through my peephole,” said Sonja Edwards, who lives nearby. “I saw the fire department, police, ambulance—everybody across the street. I came outside and saw them put someone in the ambulance and take off. The police stayed, and I just went back inside.”
9 a.m. report:
Edwards said the victim’s mother was seen rushing to the hospital, visibly distraught. She added that the same complex was the scene of a recent, unrelated emergency response.
As of Wednesday afternoon, BSO had not released the identity of the victim.
Jail records show Gonzales is facing one count each of attempted murder and armed robbery. His bond information or current mugshot was not immediately available.
Records show he had previous charges of robbery with a deadly weapon and felony battery from a separate case in 2011.
