MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man is facing a felony charge after Miami-Dade deputies said he ran an illegal post-operative cosmetic surgery recovery home.
Authorities said Salomon Ramos, 24, ran the unlicensed facility out of a duplex at 10969 NW First Lane, just outside of the Sweetwater city limits in the unincorporated Fontainebleau area.
The business, identified by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office as PMFX Services, appears to have a special focus on patients recovering from Brazilian butt lifts.
Its Spanish-language web page boasts of having a specialized “BBL team” and a video on its Instagram page shows off a purpose-built chair with a depressed seat for recovering BBL patients.
The Instagram account shows Ramos posing with ― and testimonials from ― patients coming from other states, countries in Latin America and from as far away as India.
Deputies said patients would pay between $200 and $250 per night to stay at the home and receive services. According to an arrest report, an employee said she was paid $1,500 per month to work six days per week caring for patients.
The MDSO report states that the home typically has around three recovering patients at a time.
South Florida law enforcement agencies have spent the past few years cracking down on illegal recovery facilities for BBL recipients and other cosmetic surgery patients.
Some have reported unsanitary conditions at various homes in Miami-Dade, though the MDSO report doesn’t state that that was the case at PMFX Services.
Authorities said Ramos invoked his right to an attorney and deputies arrested him on a charge of operating an assisted living facility without a license.
Jail records show he was being held in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $2,500 bond.
