MEDLEY, Fla. — Thick black smoke rose above Medley early Sunday morning as flames erupted from an auto shop.
It’s located in the area of the 7500 block of Northwest 74th Avenue.
The shot, Optimum Truck and Parts, specializes in the sale of used commercial truck engines.
A man who works security at a nearby business told Local 10 News’ Isabella Martin he immediately grabbed his phone and called 911 after hearing several explosions.
Crews with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue rushed in, spraying down the truck that caught fire to stop the flames from spreading.
Local 10 spoke off camera with someone who works at the trucking company, and he said it was a battery malfunction on a truck that sparked the fire.
Officials have yet to provide an official update on what sparked the blaze or say whether anyone was inside at the time or injured in the blaze.
