MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that “more victims have come forward” following the arrest of a 50-year-old chess teacher on a molestation charge in late July.

Authorities initially arrested Christopher Stormont, who ran The Stormont Kings chess program out of a Kendall-area office building, on July 29.

Deputies said the victim, a 6-year-old boy, told his mother that Stormont had touched his penis over the clothing as he attended a class at the building, located at 8353 SW 124th St., that day.

Deputies said they responded to the scene after the boy’s mother called them and they took Stormont into custody.

They said he made a “self-serving statement” during an interview at MDSO’s Special Victims Bureau in Doral and then took him to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a charge of lewd and lascivious molestation.

Stormont, of southwest Miami-Dade, has been held without bond ever since. As of Tuesday morning, additional charges weren’t listed in his online jail or court files. He’s scheduled to be arraigned next Tuesday and details about additional charges may come then.

Deputies think there may be more victims and are asking them to call MDSO’s Special Victims Bureau at 305-418-7200.

Anyone with additional information or who wants to remain anonymous is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
