PLANTATION, Fla. — The senior who police say was slapped by a Miami woman in a dispute over a table and chairs at Aventura Mall’s Eataly food hall spoke to Local 10 News on Tuesday.

Aventura police arrested Lelia Trinchero, 44, of Coconut Grove, after they said she slapped 72-year-old Hanania Levy amid a dispute over whether a table at the new restaurant was occupied.

Levy, of Plantation, said he had his 4-month-old grandson in his hand as Trinchero “jumped on” and slapped him at around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

He said, “I (felt) dizzy and I said, ‘What the hell?,’ ‘What (am) I doing?’”

According to an arrest report, Trinchero told cops that she sat at a table to eat food and wait for her husband and son. She said the table was empty, but a woman approached her and told her that her family was already sitting at the table, setting off a tussle over a chair in which police said she slapped the woman and Levy.

Levy ended up being taken to the hospital, according to police.

“Shame on you,” he said he’d tell her.

Police arrested Trinchero on charges of battery on a person 65 or older and battery.

A judge found probable cause to charge her Monday and ordered that she be released on her own recognizance.
