Body cam video shows aftermath of plane crash

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — Newly released video shows the race to rescue passengers after a plane crash in Pembroke Pines.

The body camera footage from Pembroke Pines police giving viewers the perspective of first responders who arrived to that crash site.

Those crews found the survivors were not only seemingly okay, but able to explain what happened.

This happened back on July 13 when a Cessna crashed in the neighborhood near Southwest 14th Street and 68th Boulevard in Pembroke Pines, narrowly missing homes and cars as it went down.

The plane was trying to land at nearby North Perry Airport.

Neighbors rushed right in to help, and Pembroke Pines police arrived as those neighbors were still helping the people onboard.

One video shows the three passengers, a woman and two teenage girls, sitting in shock, with one crying and frantic.

The pilot of the plane, identified as Carlos Enrique Balza Cardenas, is seen in the video speaking to officers while on a gurney.

All those onboard were treated for their injuries and released.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

There has been a recent push by residents and city commissioners to find a way to make North Perry Airport safer, considering the number of crashes that have occurred so close to neighborhoods.
