According to a citation issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission on April 18, 2020, an FWC officer spotted Guillermo Arteaga, now 35, dumping litter on the side of Pembroke Road and U.S. 27 in Pembroke Park.

Arteaga was issued a citation for littering, not exceeding 15 pounds or 27 cubic feet.

According to the citation, he was ordered to pay a $105 fine.

Another court document shows that Arteaga missed a court hearing for that citation in June of 2023, and a judge ordered that he be taken into custody.

Arteaga was finally detained on Tuesday, and has since been released on a $50 bond.

A spokesperson with the Miami Police Department confirmed that Arteaga is a current police officer with the department. No other details about his employment were immediately released, but the spokesperson said a news release on his arrest will be issued sometime Wednesday.
