MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — New surveillance video obtained exclusively by Local 10 News Friday shows a man walking into an office and shooting a woman multiple times at point-blank range in a fatal attack, authorities say.
Investigators identified the suspect as 57-year-old Pedro Pablo Linares, and the victim as his 60-year-old sister, Beatriz Linares-Calamita. Deputies said the attack came without provocation.
The shooting occurred on April 4 at a workplace on Southwest 79th Avenue in Miami-Dade’s Fontainebleau neighborhood.
New video released by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office shows a man, who they identified as Linares, wearing a mask, blue gloves, and a hat, approaching his sister and firing about a dozen shots before leaving and closing the door behind him.
After the shooting, authorities said Linares fled the state but was later arrested in Louisiana.
An arrest warrant obtained by Local 10 News indicates a possible motive.
Family members reportedly told investigators that the victim had evicted Linares from their mother’s home over a lack of care or financial support.
Authorities said the victim’s husband told them Linares had shown up at their home unannounced multiple times in the weeks before the shooting.
According to jail records, Linares is being held without bond at the Metro West Detention Center and could face life in prison if convicted.
