The demonstration at a busy Wilton Manors intersection was part of a national series of protests happening across the country.

As the battle over redistricting moves beyond Texas, Florida could be next.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is supporting an effort by the state House speaker to create a select committee that would consider drawing a new congressional map in the state.

Ringing bells and chanting for change, protesters filled the intersection, drawing honks from passing drivers.

Protesters said they have gathered weekly for the past 25 weeks to rally against the president’s policies.

“We’re out here, we’re everyday people, we’re moms, dads, brother and sister going about our daily lives and we’re putting our volunteer time into this,” said protestor Jennifer Jones.

Activists also said they wanted to sound the alarm as Republicans in other states consider remaking their congressional maps, with Democrats in New York and Illinois also planning adjustments.

“We have had it. We are fighting back against this Trump takeover,” Jones added.

Protest organizers said they plan to return soon for additional demonstrations.
