Off-duty Broward firefighters rescue victim from burning car on I-75

Crash on I-75 sends victim to hospital

WESTON, Fla. — Two off-duty Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue lieutenants jumped into action on Interstate 75 Sunday morning.

According to BSFR, the two came upon a burning car that had just wrecked, grabbed a fire extinguisher, put out the flames and removed the injured victim.

The wreck happened at around 7 a.m. near Royal Palm Boulevard in Weston. Photos shared with Local 10 News show the green Dodge Magnum crashed into a light pole.

Medics airlifted the driver, a man, to Broward Health Medical Center with serious injuries.

Officials said he’s expected to recover.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
