HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A driver slammed into the side of a hotel in Hollywood on Thursday morning.
It happened around 5 a.m. at the Curtis Inn and Suites at 1501 S. Federal Highway.
Hollywood police and fire rescue crews responded.
“The driver was stuck behind the wheel and our crews were able to cut the entire left door side area off to remove (him) from the car,” a Hollywood Fire Rescue spokesperson said.
Officials said the driver was conscious and taken to Memorial Regional Hospital as a trauma alert patient after being removed from the Nissan sedan.
“It all happened so fast,” Soglayah Mersan, staying at the hotel with her family, said. “We look out through the window, we’re like, ‘Oh, it’s an accident.’ And then when we open the door and we look, we’re like, ‘My goodness, he’s in the wall.’”
Mersan said she’s thankful nobody else was hurt.
“Like all God’s grace that he didn’t hit into the whole ― into the room ― and he hit just hit into the wall,“ she said. ”All God’s grace that we are still alive.”
Authorities haven’t said whether they’ve determined what caused the wreck.
