Miami police identified the suspect as Fernando Abraham Delosrios, 41. Jail records show he is facing one count of leaving the scene of a crash involving death.

The crash happened near the intersection of Northwest 25th Avenue and Northwest Seventh Street, just outside loanDepot Park.

According to an arrest report, Delosrios was driving a black 2018 Dodge Durango east on Northwest Seventh Street around 6:45 a.m. when he struck a pedestrian crossing the road.

Police said the driver did not stop. Miami Fire Rescue pronounced the victim dead at the scene minutes later.

Investigators said they found a fog lamp bezel at the scene that matched Dodge Durango models. About 30 minutes later, officers saw a black Durango with significant front-end damage traveling on Northwest 24th Avenue, near the crash site.

Police said Delosrios got out of the vehicle and admitted he had been involved in the crash, telling officers “the victim was crossing the road, it was dark, and he panicked.”

That statement was captured on officers’ body-worn cameras, according to the report.

Delosrios was taken into custody just after 7 a.m. and transported to Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Authorities have not released the name or age of the victim.

Delosrios appeared in court Saturday, where a judge found probable cause and set his bond at $15,000..
