MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A Texas man set out on a bike ride from New York to Miami, but along the way, his journey became less about the destination and more about the kindness of strangers.
“This ride has given me more than I could have ever thought or wished for,” said Pradeep Sambu.
For the past month, Sambu, a software engineer, has been pedaling from Times Square in New York City to Miami Beach.
“I’ve been working along the way, scheduling time to ride and time to work,” he said.
Sambu currently lives in Dallas, but says this ride was a dream he’d always wanted to accomplish.
Along the way, complete strangers have opened their doors, offering him food, housing, and support to keep him going.
Local 10 News’ Isabella Martin caught up with him as he concluded his journey.
“This is giving me goosebumps,” he said.
Sambu traveled through 12 states, covering more than a thousand miles and meeting many friends he’ll never forget.
“Believe in yourself,” he said. “Your body and mind can do wonders if you just put faith and dedication.”
