Smoke briefly visible for miles after tractor-trailer fire in Hallandale Beach

Trucks catch fire at Hallandale Beach lot

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. — A tractor-trailer fire at a Hallandale Beach truck lot briefly caused black smoke to be visible for miles during the Monday morning commute.

Officials said the fire broke out just after 9 a.m. at Safe Truck Parking, located at 310 Ansin Blvd., just east of Interstate 95.

“A concerned caller reported a tractor-trailer on fire across from the location,” a Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue news release said. “As firefighters began arriving, they observed heavy black smoke visible throughout the area. A second tractor-trailer was found in close proximity to the burning vehicle, prompting additional units to respond.”

Authorities said an “aggressive fire attack” brought the blaze under control within 10 minutes.

“Several other vehicles may have sustained damage, though the extent is still being assessed,” the news release states, going on to note that it “remains unclear whether the adjacent building sustained damage during the firefighting efforts.”

No one reported any injuries, officials said.

One of the trucks had luxury vehicles inside, so fire investigators are looking into whether one of the vehicles sparked the blaze.
