Man accused of entering ex-girlfriend’s Miami Springs home, dragging her out of bathroom by hair

MIAMI SPRINGS, Fla. — A 30-year-old man was arrested Monday by Miami Springs police after he entered his ex-girlfriend’s home uninvited and then assaulted her, police said.

According to police, the victim was showering when Pedro Antonio Rodriguez-Benitez entered her home through an unlocked front door and confronted her in the bathroom.

Police said a physical altercation ensued and Rodriguez-Benitez dragged the naked victim out to the living room by her hair, then pushed her onto a sofa and grabbed her by the neck.

Rodriguez-Benitez then snatched the victim’s cellphone as she tried to call 911 and then fled the scene with the phone, police said.

According to authorities, Rodriguez-Benitez was later found at his home where he was taken into custody with assistance from the Hialeah Police Department.

According to jail records, Rodriguez-Benitez faces charges of home invasion robbery, tampering with physical evidence, criminal mischief, grand theft and child abuse without great bodily harm.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Rodriguez-Benitez was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $6,001 bond.
