DAVIE, Fla. — A 19-year-old woman is facing an attempted murder charge after police said she struck a woman with a gun and fired at her last month in Davie.

Authorities identified the suspect in an arrest warrant Tuesday as Valerie Lisette Gonzalez.

Police said the incident occurred on July 22, when Davie road patrol officers responded to a shooting call in an area that was redacted in an arrest warrant obtained by Local 10 News on Tuesday.

Upon arrival, officers said they made contact with the female victim, who reported she had been the target of a battery involving a gun.

The victim told police that around 10:30 a.m., a man she knew asked if she wanted to get something to eat and offered to pick her up.

When the man arrived at her home, he told police he had parked his car down the street. As the victim approached the parked vehicle, she said she expected to get inside to go eat, according to police.

“When she opened the front passenger door, an unknown white male wearing a black hoodie and a dark-colored ski mask exited one of the victim’s (redacted) in the mouth,” police said. The male allegedly continued striking the victim in the head and face, causing scrapes, the warrant stated.

The female victim told police she then saw Gonzalez, wearing ripped jeans, a dark hoodie, and a ski mask, approach from the rear of the vehicle holding a dark-colored gun in her right hand, according to the warrant.

Gonzalez allegedly asked the victim if she wanted to talk about “my dead boyfriend,” then struck her in the head with the gun, causing her to fall to the ground, authorities said.

They said Gonzalez and the unknown male reportedly stomped on the victim. Gonzalez also appeared to film the attack on a cellphone and later sent the victim a clip of the incident, according to the warrant.

Police said the victim man managed to get back on her feet and run to her residence.

They said the victim looked back and saw Gonzalez with one foot inside the rear passenger side of the vehicle, pointing the gun. The victim said she observed Gonzalez fire the weapon once before she and the two other subjects fled the scene.

The warrant stated that the victim and Gonzalez had previously been incarcerated together in juvenile detention for about a month and had “several” daily interactions.

Police said they had also been arguing on social media for months, and Gonzalez began messaging her Instagram account from an account reportedly belonging to Gonzalez’s deceased boyfriend.

Following the incident, police said Gonzalez allegedly made statements in messages saying she “intended to kill” the victim by shooting at her and “may attempt to shoot her again in the future.”

Detectives said in one message, Gonzalez wrote:

“So I reacted crazy but I’m f----d up mentally and I told her to stop it. I’m telling her ima kill her and she keep going on about my dead ppl.”

Jail records show she is facing one count each of first-degree murder with a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm in public and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

As of Tuesday, she was being held without bond at the North Broward Bureau detention center in Pompano Beach.

Authorities have not released any information on the two subjects that fled from the scene.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
