ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. — Three people from South Florida who were killed earlier this month in a crash on Florida’s Turnpike have now been identified.
An arrest report for the suspect arrested in connection with the Aug. 12 crash identifies the victims as Herby Dufresne, Faniola Joseph and Rodrigue Dor. Joseph, 37, was from Pompano Beach and the two men were from Miami and Florida City, WPTV reported.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the three victims were in a minivan when a driver in a semi-truck made an illegal U-turn in St. Lucie County.
The truck driver, identified as Harjinder Singh, made the turn in an area that was marked “official use only,” causing the major wreck, troopers said.
Singh was later arrested in California.
Officials say he crossed into the U.S. illegally in 2018 and obtained a commercial driver’s license in California.
He was flown back to Florida to face charges.
Singh is charged with three counts of vehicular homicide and is being held without bond.
