MIAMI — Nearly two decades after a deadly crash in Hialeah, a woman accused of driving under the influence has been arrested and is now facing justice.
Leydis Menendez Abdala was taken into custody and appeared before a judge Sunday morning, according to authorities.
Police say they had been searching for her for 19 years.
The crash happened in August 2006. Investigators say Menendez Abdala was driving under the influence when she caused a collision that killed Gloria Hall.
Hall’s brother, a City of Miami police officer, spoke in court and said Menendez Abdala was recently located and arrested in Mexico.
She is expected to appear in court again on Monday.
