AVENTURA, Fla. — A woman police said was the victim of a bizarre crime in Aventura is speaking to Local 10 News. Authorities said a 28-year-old man hit her with his SUV soon after she declined to let him smell her feet.
The woman, who asked not to be identified, told Local 10 News that she met up with Elmoncy Sercle at the Serena Hotel, located at 2820 NE 214th St., on Sunday afternoon in order to sell him a pair of used sneakers.
“When I got there, he just wanted to sniff my feet and I didn’t feel comfortable with that,” the woman said. “I mean, you could have my sneakers all you want. I mean, I don’t care. I’m not wearing them. And you know, they’re just stinky old sneakers. But people like weird things.”
Then, she said, things got scary. She said Sercle, of southwest Miami-Dade, ran out of the room with what she thought were her shoes. She said she ran after him to the parking area.
She said when she confronted Sercle, “he did a three-point turn and actually hit me with a car. Ran me over.”
“By the grace of God, I’m still standing today,” the woman said.
She said that the incident was not only scary, but “extremely bizarre.”
“I’ve never experienced anything like this before,” she said. “I’ve met a lot of people who have foot fetishes, obviously, and nobody has ever done anything to this caliber.”
Police arrested Sercle on a charge of aggravated battery on Thursday.
They said after reviewing his background, he’s been the subject of other incidents involving the same modus operandi.
Local 10 News is working to obtain surveillance footage of the incident.
