MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that deputies say left a bicyclist dead in Pinewood last week.
Deputies with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office identified the driver in an arrest report Tuesday as 45-year-old Michelson Jeancy.
Jail records show he is facing one count each of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and tampering with physical evidence.
The crash happened around 11:20 p.m. on Aug. 25 along Northwest 103rd Street near Northwest 12th Avenue.
Investigators said a man on a bicycle had just left a Mobil gas station and was riding westbound when he was struck from behind by a 2013 Honda Civic. The impact threw the cyclist into the windshield and onto the roadway.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Authorities later identified him as 63-year-old Gregory Hughes, who was known to neighbors as “Grey.”

Detectives said Jeancy fled the scene without calling for help.
Investigators on Sunday said they located the Honda Civic at a home in Miami with front-end damage consistent with the crash.
They also confirmed that surveillance video from several locations also linked the car to the scene.
Deputies said Jeancy provided a statement to investigators after being advised of his Miranda rights, but the contents of that statement were redacted from the publicly-released report.
Deputies said he was arrested without incident and transported to the Metrowest Detention Center.
He remained jailed at the MWDC as of Tuesday morning, where his bond was listed as “to be set.”
