Century Village couple seeking answers following fatal dog attack

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — There is outrage in Pembroke Pines’ Century Village after a family says their dog, Milton, was viciously attacked and killed by another dog that has long been an issue in the community.

Milton was a 3-year-old Frenchie that provided companionship and purpose to Lynn and Ira Streiner, a couple who have lived in the community for 20 years.

Pembroke Pines couple mourns loss of beloved dog Milton

That sense of purpose was taken from them last week when Milton came face-to-face with another dog.

According to a police report, the dog’s owner says Milton initiated the aggression and attacked her dog, but the officer said there were no injuries to that dog, just to Milton.

Lynn Streiner said that’s not what happened.

“All of a sudden, her dog started to growl and ran towards Milton, and I was holding Milton, and I fell, (trying) to hold him to save him,” she said. “I fell on the ground, hit my shoulder, and I was holding him so tight. I heard he made a noise.”

She said after the attack, the couple racked up over $10,000 in vet bills trying to save Milton’s life, but ultimately made the tough decision to put him down.

The Streiners say no one is taking responsibility for what went wrong. They believe the dog that attacked their dog should be removed from the community.
