Detectives identify Hialeah stabber as 70-year-old man

HIALEAH, Fla. — Detectives identified the 70-year-old man accused of stabbing his wife in a moving car, causing a crash, and then stabbing himself on Tuesday in Hialeah as George Diaz.

The attempted murder suicide and crash were at about 7 p.m., at West 53 Street and 12 Avenue, police said. Miguel Martinez said he saw and heard a witness screaming for help.

“A guy came out of the car and said, ‘He is killing her! He is killing her!’”

Martinez said he also saw the attacker hurting the victim and then hurting himself.

According to the Hialeah Police Department, fire rescue personnel took Diaz and the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.
