FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — After spending the night at the Broward County Main Jail, an 18-year-old man appeared in bond court accused of bringing a gun to school in Margate.
Police officers arrested Jaylen W. Lindo on Tuesday and accused him of bringing a gun to SunEd High School of North Broward at 1117 Banks Road, according to prosecutors.
Lindo, who was born in Fort Lauderdale, appeared before Broward County Circuit Judge Corey B. Friedman on Wednesday morning, records show.
During the bond court hearing, a public defender told Friedman Lindo didn’t have a criminal record, lived with his parents in North Lauderdale, and had a part-time job at McDonald’s after school.
Lindo faced charges of third-degree felony possession of a firearm on school property, third-degree felony carrying a concealed firearm, and second-degree misdemeanor interfering with school administration functions, court records show.
Friedman set Lindo’s bond at $13,000, ordered him to wear a pre-trial GPS, and to stay away from weapons and from the school. Broward County Circuit Judge Frank Leeded was set to preside over the case.
