MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 54-year-old man accused of using a machete to injure a man’s head and wrist was behind bars on Friday in Miami-Dade County without bond.
Police officers responded to the fight shortly after 4:30 a.m., on Aug. 10, at the Northside Commons, at 8301 NW 27 Ave., in Miami-Dade’s West Little River area.
There were several witnesses in a third-floor apartment when Timothy James and the victim allegedly got into an argument over a stolen gun, records show.
During the fight, James “armed himself with a machete and attempted to strike the victim in head with it. The victim blocked it and the machete struck him in the left wrist,” a police officer wrote in the arrest report.
James “swung the machete once again and ultimately struck the victim in the left side of the head, near the temple,” the police officer wrote.
Deputies arrested James shortly after 5:15 p.m. on Thursday at the Northside Station, and corrections booked him about four hours later at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, records show.
James faced a charge of second-degree felony attempted murder with a deadly weapon. A judge denied him bond.
