Hurricane Melissa strengthened into a Category 5 storm Monday as it drew closer to Jamaica, where forecasters said it would unleash catastrophic flooding, landslides and widespread damage. It would be the strongest hurricane to hit the island since record-keeping began in 1851.
Police officers responded shortly after 9 a.m. to the waterway along Collins Avenue near the Eden Roc, at 4525 Collins Ave.
Miami Beach Miami Beach police officers and fire rescue personnel respond to a death investigation on Monday along Collins Avenue.
The person was floating face down, police said. Miami Beach Fire Rescue personnel pronounced the person dead.
