MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 31-year-old fugitive faced charges on Friday in Miami-Dade County after deputies arrested him at Miami International Airport.

Charles Decca, who was wanted since Aug.19, had arrived at MIA on a flight from Colombia on Thursday, according to a deputy’s arrest report.

Decca, who was born in Miami-Dade and lived in Kendall, ran away from deputies on Aug. 19 during a traffic stop at Southwest 117 Avenue and 76 St., records show.

A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted Decca riding an unregistered motorcycle northbound on Southwest 117 Avenue, records show.

In his left pocket, Decca was carrying a plastic bag with 40 Xanax pills, so he decided to run away along Southwest 76 Street, according to deputies.

Decca jumped a wall, ran toward Southwest 116 Avenue, and vanished despite a search that involved a helicopter and dogs, according to deputies.

Correctional deputies booked Decca on Thursday night at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faced 40 counts of possession of a controlled substance, records show.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Jason Bloch was set to preside over the case.
