A 32-year-old man confessed to a road rage incident while armed with a gun and a knife in Miami-Dade County’s Coral Terrace neighborhood, according to court records.
Kayan Henrique De Almeida Fernandes was at the Metrowest Detention Center on Monday after Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested him on Friday over the Nov. 6 incident, records show.
De Almeida Fernandes, who works as a tour guide, “admitted that he got into a verbal dispute with [a woman] about reversing her vehicle into the driveway,” a M-DSO deputy wrote, according to an arrest report.
De Almeida Fernandes was driving a silver 2019 Hyundai Elantra when he yelled at a woman over her driving and threatened to kill her and her husband -- before he fled, according to an arrest report.
When deputies arrested him shortly after 9:25 a.m. on Friday at Southwest 75 Court and 34 Terrace, De Almeida Fernandes had the pocketknife in his pocket and the firearm in his car, records show.
Deputies reported that a surveillance camera recorded a video of the road rage incident in front of the victims’ home, according to a M-DSO deputy’s arrest report. No one was injured.
De Almeida Fernandes appeared in court on Saturday, and a judge ordered him to stay away from the two victims and set his bond at $20,000.
Court records show he faced two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Milton Hirsch was set to preside over the case.
