SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. — A teenage girl reported that a ride-share driver’s sexual advances were so frightening that she started to record him and felt like crying when she arrived at her destination and got out of the car, according to police.
A 15-year-old girl used the Uber Teens app to request a ride shortly after 2:35 p.m. on Monday from Aventura to Sunny Isles Beach, according to a police report.
Jose Perez arrived to pick her up in a Toyota Corolla, and there was an intrusive conversation before he stopped, placed his hand on her knee, caressed it, touched her face, and her arm, according to a police report.
Perez asked the girl if she wanted to sit in the front, and she declined, but he kept on crossing boundaries, according to police.
“You make me nervous. You know what? Since you don’t have a boyfriend, I can teach you how to kill. Let’s park! Let’s do something, and I can teach you,” Perez said, according to police.
The teenage girl told her parents how she felt afraid for her safety, and they decided to contact the police. Officers arrested Perez at his home in North Miami Beach, records show.
Inmate records show corrections booked Perez, also known as Jose Miguel Perez Molina, on Tuesday. and he faced a charge of lewd and lascivious conduct on a child younger than 16 years old.
Perez appeared in bond court, and a judge set his bond at $7,500 and ordered him to stay away from the victim.
Records show Perez, who was born in Venezuela, remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Thursday night with a hold by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
