AVENTURA, Fla. - Drivers are still unable to use the William Lehman Causeway to get from Sunny Isles Beach to Aventura on Saturday. A damaged 24-inch sewer line ruptured a westbound lane Thursday night between Biscayne Boulevard in Aventura and Collins Avenue in Sunny Isles Beach. The wastewater polluted a nearby retention lake, and prompted authorities to temporarily close the causeway, also known as the FL-826, in both directions. Drivers are experiencing delays on Collins Avenue and West Dixie Highway. Miami-Dade County officials warned the wastewater spilled into the drainage retention lake near the causeway.

AVENTURA, Fla. - The William Lehman Causeway could now be closed for days. Sunny Isles Beach police said Friday that the scope of work needed to repair a sewer pipe leak is more extensive than previously thought. Two lanes reopened by 10 p.m. Friday and officials expect to reopen all lanes on Saturday. Officials said the break is located about a quarter-mile east of where the causeway intersects with Biscayne Boulevard. Police initially only closed the westbound lanes of the causeway, but they've since closed all lanes as a precaution.
