Cops seek woman caught on camera toppling menorah in Sunny Isles Beach

Police say she also scrawled ‘God hates Jews’ on a bus stop

SUNNY ISLES BEACH, Fla. – Sunny Isles Beach police are looking for a woman caught on video toppling a menorah; police said she then scrawled an anti-Semitic message on a bus stop.

It happened at a synagogue in the barrier island community.

The menorah is a fixture at the house of worship, but the woman was seen uprooting it.

“Definitely was intentional and she meant to do it,” Sunny Isles Beach police Chief Edward Santiago said. “She put a lot of work into it to destroy it.”

A short time later, police said she went to a nearby bus shelter, where she scrawled “God hates Jews.”

Police said she may face hate crime charges once captured.

“We take this very seriously,” Santiago said. “We are not going to tolerate any religious intolerance.”

Anyone with information is asked to immediately call Sunny Isles Beach police at 305-947-4440.
