Police: Video shows man causing mayhem at South Beach corner store

Steven Zamora Police officers arrested Steven Zamora on Thursday in South Beach, corrections booked him on Friday, and he remained in jail on an immigration hold on Monday.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A 29-year-old man faced charges after causing mayhem that was caught on video at a corner store in South Beach, according to police.

Steven Zamora stole and damaged property at Friendz Food Market at the corner of Washington Avenue and Ninth Street, according to police.

During his arrest on Thursday night, Zamora spat at a Miami Beach police officer’s face, according to a police arrest report.

Fire rescue personnel later determined Zamora appeared to be intoxicated and took him from the police station to Mount Sinai Hospital, records show.

Inmate records show corrections booked Zamora on Friday morning at the Turner Guilford Correctional Center, where he remained on Monday with a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold.

Zamora faced charges of battery on a police officer, criminal mischief of $1,000 or more, and petit theft. He appeared in court, and a judge ordered him to stay away from the market. His bond was $5,300.
