On Sunday morning, the woman reported that she was walking westbound along Northwest 26 Street when she noticed a man following her, according to police.

The woman reported that she and a witness started to walk faster, and the man caught up to her near Second Avenue, according to police.

The woman pushed the man when he got too close, and he moved forward to snatch her snowflake-shaped earrings before running away, according to police.

Police officers found a suspect, later identified as Jose Rodriguez, walking along Northwest Second Avenue, near 28 Street, and noticed he was hiding gold jewelry in his mouth, records show.

Rodriguez, 46, refused to follow orders, displayed “aggressive behavior,” and when he started yelling -- the jewelry fell out of his mouth, according to police.

Inmate records show corrections booked Rodriguez, also known as Jose Ramos, on Sunday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He faced two counts of strong-armed robbery.
