2 Coast Guard members recently arrested in Miami-Dade

MIAMI — Two U.S. Coast Guard Southeast District members were recently arrested for separate cases in Miami-Dade County.

A police officer arrested USCG Petty Officer Alain Carvajal, of the USCG station Miami Beach, on Dec. 19, at the Homestead Police Department station.

Carvajal, 25, was accused of a domestic violence incident on Dec. 15 in Homestead and faced charges of false imprisonment and battery.

The victim, who is married to Carvajal, reported he arrived at home “in an aggressive state,” yelled insults, and later “grabbed her in a bear hug,” a police officer wrote, according to an arrest report.

Carvajal appeared in court on Dec. 20, and a bond court judge ordered him to stay away from the victim.

Court records show Carvajal’s arraignment was set for Feb. 17, and Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Carlos Gamez was presiding over the case.

The second USCG member who was recently arrested was Bryan Dufault. A spokesperson for the USCG confirmed their employment and reported the cases were under investigation.
