MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Days after threatening to light up a house on fire while his neighbors were sleeping, a 52-year-old man drenched them with gasoline, according to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Ivan Cumba threw the gasoline over the victims who were in their backyard shortly before 10:05 p.m. on Thursday, along Northwest 31 Street, near 27 Avenue, according to deputies.
Witnesses reported that when they confronted Cumba, he “stated that his purpose was for them to burn,” a M-DSO deputy wrote, according to an arrest report.
A witness recorded a video of Cumba with his cell phone before deputies responded and arrested him, according to the M-DSO report.
Cumba remained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Friday afternoon after he appeared in bond court, records show.
Cumba faced 13 charges: Six counts of aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, six counts of battery, and resisting arrest without violence.
A bond court judge ordered him to stay away from the victims, wear a GPS monitor during a house arrest on total lockdown, and set his bail at $45,500.
Court records show Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Ariel Rodriguez was assigned to preside over the case.
