FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale is moving forward with a new Holiday Park project that officials say will provide more parking and improve emergency response services.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis described Holiday Park as “a hub for activity and leisure” since it’s home to The Parker, FTL War Memorial Auditorium, Baptist Health IcePlex, and the Jimmy Evert Tennis Center.

The newly approved project’s proposal “reflects our commitment to respect the environment and plan thoughtfully for the future,” Trantalis said.

The statement followed a public meeting on Tuesday when commissioners approved a developer, Holiday Park Parking Partners LLC, and a proposal that includes a building with a rooftop VertiPort, a futuristic hub for electric aircraft.

Holiday Park Parking Partners LLC is a partnership between Clarence Capital Partners, a Delray Beach-based real asset investment firm, and CORE Construction, which has an office in Fort Lauderdale.

The project, which follows years of discussions, also includes “an integrated” fire-rescue substation near Northeast Eighth Street and 10 Avenue, according to city officials.

“We’re investing in both quality of life and public safety,” Commissioner Steven Glassman, the vice mayor, said in a statement.

The negotiations between the private developer and the city to determine costs, timelines, and other details are next.

The developer estimated the city would have an initial operating cost of about $700,000 and collect between $1 million and $1.9 million annual gross parking revenues, assuming that there is a 50% public average daily use, records show.

The commission will still need to review a final proposal and approve it for the actual construction to begin, according to officials.

Stiles Construction, Justin Architects, CES Consultants, Walker Consultants, Chicago-based Parking Advisors, and Atlantic Aviation are also listed as partners in the project.
