MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — After using license plate readers and surveillance video, Miami Beach police officers arrested a 38-year-old felon who was born in New York on Wednesday, 45 days after an armed robbery in South Beach, records show.
Miami Beach police officers found William Johnson, a suspect in a Dec. 14 armed robbery at a public parking lot, living in Miami-Dade County’s Fontainebleau neighborhood, records show.
According to a police report, on Dec. 14, the victim told Miami Beach police officers that at about 1:25 a.m., a gunman “pushed” him, he fell, and as he stood back up, the gunman pulled back the slide of the firearm, and shouted, “Give me everything!”
The victim reported he surrendered his “Cuban link chain necklace, diamond-set Cartier watch, green Goyard wallet with credit cards, and his cell phone,” according to a Miami Beach police report.
The victim also reported that shortly before 2:50 a.m., a thief had used his stolen credit card to charge $335.74 at the Liquor Emporium, at 1475 W Okeechobee Road, in Hialeah, according to police.
Detectives tracked Johnson’s 2024 Honda Accord, searched his home, and found the stolen diamond-set Cartier watch, a Smith & Wesson firearm, and the blue denim jacket and jeans he appeared to have worn during the robbery, according to a police arrest report.
Detectives arrested Johnson at 9 a.m. on Wednesday at 943 NW 97 Ave., according to the police arrest report. Corrections booked Johnson at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to inmate records.
Williams faced charges of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Johnson’s federal felony convictions in 2011 include importing or manufacturing firearms, conspiracy to deal in firearms without a license, and dealing in firearms without a license, records show.
