MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A second suspect in a recent pet store burglary in the Kendale Lakes neighborhood faced charges on Thursday in Miami-Dade County court, records show.
Surveillance video shows Nataly Bendana and Janet Gonzalez taking 18 golden doodle puppies valued at $45,000 and designer sneakers valued at $17,000 on Tuesday at the Fur Baby Puppies Pet Shop, according to Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Bendana, 37, and Gonzalez, 33, got into the store at 13925 SW 66 St. by “illegally having the bolt lock removed from the main entrance door by a locksmith,” according to a M-DSO deputy’s arrest report.
Gonzalez met with deputies on Wednesday morning at the Hammocks station, she claimed “to be partial owner of the business,” and ended the interrogation “when confronted with documentation” showing otherwise, according to the M-DSO deputies’ arrest report.
Surveillance video shows Bendana, of Homestead, and Gonzalez, of Princeton, “loading all dogs and sneaker boxes” into Bendana’s car, which was parked in the store’s back alley and leaving at 4:55 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a M-DSO deputy’s report.
Deputies responded to the store shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and the registered business owner identified the two burglars by name, according to the M-DSO deputies’ arrest reports.
Bendana returned to the store, deputies detained her at the Hammocks station for questioning at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and arrested her shortly after 8:40 p.m., records show.
Miami-Dade corrections booked Bendana early Wednesday morning at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to county inmate records.
M-DSO deputies arrested Gonzalez at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Hammocks station, and corrections booked her at 1:10 p.m. at TGKCC, records showed.

Miami-Dade prosecutors filed cases against Bendana and Gonzalez on felony charges of burglary of an unoccupied structure and third-degree grand theft.
Bendana appeared in bond court on Wednesday, and Gonzalez appeared on Thursday morning. Both had court-issued stay-away orders, and bond was $5,000 each. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Carmen Cabarga was set to preside over their cases.
