FLORIDA CITY, Fla. — A federal judge wanted to make sure Dieuseul Jean-Louis’s long-time customers wouldn’t be able to count on his services as a tax return preparer in southern Miami-Dade County anymore.

Jean-Louis, the owner of the former DJL Multi-Services in Florida City, received an order that U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Becerra issued on Feb. 18, records show.

The order bans Jean-Louis from preparing or assisting in the preparation of federal income tax returns and from working for or having any ownership stake in any tax preparation business.

Records show that investigators accused Jean-Louis of “fabricating and falsifying” deductions and credits without his customers knowing.

According to federal investigators, Jean-Louis “furnished to his customers copies of returns that were different from the returns filed with the IRS,” so he could “retain the additional amount for himself.”

The judge’s order required Jean-Louis to pay $245,275 in “ill-gotten gains” from DJL Multi-Services, according to federal prosecutors.

According to prosecutors, Jean-Louis agreed to the injunction and disgorgement.
