Deputies: 19-year-old woman arrested after road rage at PortMiami

MIAMI-DADE ARREST: Deputies arrested Makayvia Mackey on Wednesday morning at PortMiami.

MIAMI — A 19-year-old woman faced felony charges on Thursday after a road rage conflict ended with her arrest at PortMiami.

Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported noticing Makayvia Mackey’s angry after she got out of her car on Wednesday morning outside Cruise Terminal C, according to a deputy’s arrest report.

The driver, who Mackey had directed her anger at, accused her of cutting him off, causing his car to brake automatically, cutting him off again after he protested, and throwing “an object out of her window” to hit his car’s door, according to the deputy’s report.

Deputies reported that as the driver complained, Mackey was “driving off,” so they followed her and conducted a traffic stop. Mackey admitted to throwing an object, and said she did it because “an object was thrown at her” car first, according to the arrest report.

Mackey said the driver “continued to follow her along the Port of Miami,” according to the arrest report. Deputies reported Mackey’s car wasn’t damaged, but the other driver’s door was, so they arrested her.

Miami-Dade corrections booked her shortly after 1:10 p.m. at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, and she remained there on Thursday morning, according to inmate records.

Mackey faced felony charges of throwing a deadly missile and criminal mischief of more than $1,000, according to court records.

Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Laura Maria Gonzalez-Marques was set to preside over the case.
