MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — A woman who was bleeding told Miami Gardens police officers that burglars rushed into her home, and one hit her in the head with a ceramic sculpture of an angel.
Detectives identified one of the three burglars as Tamiya Le’Shwna Parker, whose mother was the victim’s friend, according to an arrest warrant in the case.
The victim suffered “large hematomas on her forehead, and both eyes were beginning to swell shut, consistent with blunt-force trauma,” a police officer wrote, according to a Feb. 23 warrant.
Nearly six months after the burglary on Sept. 6 at a house near Northwest 34 Avenue and 170 Street in Miami Gardens, police officers arrested Parker, 24, on Thursday night in Gladeview, records show.
Miami-Dade corrections booked Parker shortly before midnight. On Friday afternoon, she was at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond, according to inmate records.
Parker faced felony charges of burglary with assault or battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to court records. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Laura A. Stuzin was set to preside over the case.
Detectives asked anyone with information about this or other cases to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 to remain anonymous.
