Nurse arrested for colleague’s 2024 murder in Palm Beach

ARREST IN MIAMI: Deputies arrested Rene J. Perez on Tuesday in Miami.

MIAMI — Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office deputies announced on Tuesday that a suspect in a 2024 murder had been arrested in Miami.

Rene J. Perez was at the Palm Beach County Jail on Tuesday afternoon for the murder of Linda Campitelli, a registered nurse.

Perez, 38, also a registered nurse, faced charges of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and tampering with physical evidence. He was set to appear in bond court on Wednesday.

Deputies reported Campitelli, 35, was pronounced dead shortly after 10:20 p.m. on Oct. 28, 2024, outside of a car on the southbound shoulder of the roadway at the 6100 block of Lyons Road in Lake Worth Beach.

Campitelli, who graduated from Miami Southridge Senior High School and the University of Miami, wed Jon Campitelli in 2016, had two daughters, and lived in Wellington, according to her obituary.
