MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Maria Suska filed a Miami Beach police report alleging that Oren Alexander had sexually assaulted her in 2014 in South Beach, and later learned she wasn’t alone.
Twin brothers Oren and Alon Alexander, 38, and their brother Tal Alexander, 39, were convicted of sex trafficking on Monday in Manhattan after a five-week federal trial.
“I’m relieved that the court recognized the seriousness of what happened and held them accountable,” Suska wrote in a statement to Local 10 News Reporter Cristina Vazquez about the guilty verdict.
Suska, 40, a nurse, was not a part of the civil cases against Oren Alexander and his two brothers. She was also not among the 11 women who testified in their federal criminal trial.
“This verdict validates the experiences of me and others who were deceived and exploited,” Suska wrote. “My hope is that it sends a message that this kind of conduct will not be tolerated and that victims’ voices matter.”
Oren and Tal Alexander, who worked together in real estate, and Alon Alexander, who ran their family’s private security company, are awaiting sentencing with U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni on Aug. 6.
Alon and Tal Alexander were also convicted of sex trafficking of a minor. Alon and Oren Alexander were also convicted of aggravated sexual abuse by force or intoxicant and sexual abuse of a physically incapacitated person. Oren Alexander was also convicted of sexually exploiting a minor.
