Sunrise police: Woman attacks 79-year-old woman at Walmart

Keri Estep Deputies arrested Keri Estep on Wednesday in Broward County.

SUNRISE, Fla. — A 34-year-old woman said she was defending herself and her baby from a 79-year-old woman while at a Walmart in Broward County, but surveillance video showed her as the attacker, according to deputies.

Keri Estep pushed, punched, and kicked the victim, and an Allied Universal security officer had to intervene on Jan. 23 in Sunrise, according to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office deputy’s arrest report.

The 79-year-old woman said Estep, of Lauderhill, first cut in front of her at the store’s customer service line and then attacked her at 3306 North University Drive, according to the deputy’s arrest report.

“After being shown the CCTV footage of the incident, Estep acknowledged her perception of the events was inaccurate and apologized for her actions,” a deputy wrote, according to the arrest report.

Deputies arrested Estep on Wednesday afternoon at 10440 West Oakland Park Boulevard. She faced a first-degree felony charge of aggravated battery on a person 65 years old or older, records showed.

Broward County Circuit Judge Ernest A. Kollra is presiding over the case, according to the court record.
