Miami-Dade correctional deputies booked Worden Leland Bourn at 9:40 p.m. on Monday on an out-of county warrant, according to county inmate records.

Cuban officials found Bourn on Feb. 26 in Cuban waters and he claimed that he ran out of fuel and needed help to continue his voyage, according to the Lee County’s Sheriff’s Office.

Bourn was convicted of kidnapping and sexually abusing a minor in 2004 in Anchorage, Alaska, and of failing to comply with registration in Monroe County in 2022, according to the Florida Department of Corrections.

On Dec. 21, Bourn was in Fort Myers Beach when Lee County deputies reported finding him on a sailboat with a drugged 17-year-old boy whose parents had reported vanished while paddleboarding.

Lee County Circuit Judge Robert Branning issued a bench warrant for Bourn’s arrest on Feb. 16 after he failed to appear in court. He faced four counts of failure to register as a sex offender.

Branning also had a pending Dec, 24 Lee County case on charges of sale or delivery of a controlled substance to a person under 18 years of age, and possession of tetrahydrocannibol, according to court records.
