MIAMI SHORES, Fla. — A 28-year-old Miami Gardens mother was behind bars on Friday, accused of child neglect in Miami Shores, records showed.
Police officers found a little girl on Thursday at the parking lot of a Dollar Tree store at 9055 Biscayne Boulevard, according to an arrest report.
“The child appeared to be in good physical health, but was crying profusely, and appeared to be in shock,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
The girl’s mother, Deja Lundy, had more children with her when she started to argue with “several juveniles on bicycles in the parking lot, causing a disturbance,” according to the police report.
Lundy “lost awareness of the child’s whereabouts ... the child was observed running around the parked vehicle and into the roadway ... the child entered a median containing bushes where she fell,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
When the girl saw Lundy’s Dodge van leave without her, she started screaming and crying, so witnesses approached her, tried to comfort her, and called 911, according to police.
Lundy “returned to the location approximately 30 minutes after leaving,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.

Miami Shores police officers arrested Lundy shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday, and Miami-Dade corrections booked her shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Friday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Police officers contacted the Florida Department of Children and Families, and they released the girl to her maternal grandmother, according to police.
“You are lucky you got your child back alive,” Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer told Lundy during a bond court hearing on Friday.
In the parking lot of the Dollar Tree in Miami Shores, a group of boys performed stunts with their bicycles on Friday. They recognized Lundy, as a woman who was with at least two kids when she yelled at them.
Lundy faced a charge of child neglect. Glazer set her bond at $2,500 and ordered Lundy to stay away from the Dollar Tree parking lot.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Richard Hersch was set to preside over the case.
