HIT-AND-RUN CRASH VICTIM: Deputies arrested Wayne Brutton, a hit-and-run crash victim, on Monday in Broward County for manslaughter.

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — Deputies arrested a 57-year-old man on Monday after a man died following a fight and a hit-and-run crash on Sunday, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Wayne Brutton was at the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, facing a manslaughter charge, according to inmate records.

Claudinne Caro-Guaraldi, a spokeswoman for BSO, identified the victim as Humphrey Willoughby, a hit-and-run driver who struck Brutton’s car on Sunday.

“Willoughby was driving his vehicle when it struck ... Brutton’s vehicle as Brutton was preparing to back into a driveway ... Willoughby fled the scene. Brutton pursued Willoughby on foot,” Caro-Guaraldi wrote in a statement.

BSO deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue personnel responded shortly after 8:30 p. m. on Sunday near the 300 block of Northwest 29th Terrace.

“Witnesses succeeded in stopping Willoughby’s vehicle,” Caro-Guaraldi wrote. “Investigators say at some point a physical altercation ensued between the two men. Willoughby died later at the hospital.”
